{"id":53,"date":"2010-04-15T15:11:40","date_gmt":"2010-04-15T19:11:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mdlake.net\/?p=53"},"modified":"2010-07-14T15:12:54","modified_gmt":"2010-07-14T19:12:54","slug":"revolution-ok","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mdlake.net\/?p=53","title":{"rendered":"Revolution OK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Good god.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/ap\/20100412\/ap_on_re_us\/us_tea_party_militia\" target=\"_blank\">movement underway<\/a> to create a state-sponsored (that&#8217;s \u00e2\u20ac\u0153state\u00e2\u20ac\u009d as in \u00e2\u20ac\u0153one of the fifty states\u00e2\u20ac\u009d) but privately recruited, privately armed, and privately trained militia to resist federal law.  Militia movements are nothing new, nor unique to Oklahoma, but open talk of official backing chills the blood.  Of course, the state of Oklahoma already has a militia in place: the National Guard.  But apparently the National Guard is insufficiently committed to the notion that people\u00e2\u20ac\u201dwell, a certain <m>kind<\/em> of people\u00e2\u20ac\u201dshould be allowed to ignore laws they really don&#8217;t like.<\/p>\n<p>I take protestations that \u00e2\u20ac\u0153it&#8217;s not a far-right crazy plan or anything like that\u00e2\u20ac\u009d as a direct admission that the initiative is precisely that.
